The Report of CIPS 2013

The annual event China International Pet Show (CIPS 2013) concluded successfully on Nov.18, 2013 in Guangzhou. As a well-known trade platform for world pet industry, CIPS 2013 witnessed the exhibition scale of 60,000 sqm, an increase of 18% in net area over 2012.

l Statistics of CIPS 2013

Exhibitor’s Profile:

1) 916 exhibitors from 23 countries

2) 736 exhibitors from China mainland; 180 exhibitors from HK, Taiwan and foreign countries

3) 345 aquarium exhibitors, accounting 38 % of the total amount of exhibitors; 571 pet product exhibitor, 62%

Visitor’s Profile:

About 36000 visitors worldwide came to CIPS 2013. The following analysis is from the registered visitors.

1) Overseas visitors 32%, from 69 countries

2) Domestic visitors 68%, from 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China

l Trend and changes

Products of Chinese self-owned brands are increasing at CIPS 2013. Some Chinese enterprises, that used to do OEM or export business, have turned to join the market competition through their self-owned brand products. More and more enterprises, both from home and abroad, have noticed the growth and potential of Chinese market and have tried to publicize their brands at the exhibition so as to enter Chinese market earlier to gain more strength in the competition.

l Concurrent activities

Five concurrent activities were arranged during the show period in order to further enhance CIPS role as a communication bridge and make the show more attractive and colorful.

“Awarding Ceremony”, was jointly presented by the Organizers, the media and the association, having 8 awards, respectively The Gold Brand Award, The Most Growth Potential Award, Special Achievement Award, The Best Fashion Award, New Brand Creation Award, The Best Public Image Award, Technology Innovation Award, and The Best Popularity Award.

“China Pet Industry Forum”, which lasted 2 days, with rich content and practicality, included Annual Report on the Chinese Pet Market Development, concerned with the present status, features and development trend of Chinese pet market; Topic discussions on pet staple food, snacks, toy, daily living necessities; the influence of E-commerce on the modes of pet product sales, etc.

“Pet Groomer Certification and Grooming Contest”, hundreds of professional groomers gathered and competed and winners were selected for grades A, B, and C.

“All-breed Dog Show”, is part of the AKC global service. Referees were from USA, judging in accordance with American standards. Pet Medal and Dog Breed Certification were presented and the dog show became a hot spot on-site.

“China Aquatic Plant Masters”, the first water plant scenery-building competition in China. Referees were from HK, Taiwan and China mainland. There were 30 tanks contending for the General Champion and Group Champion, drawing large amount of visitors and winning their applauses.
